Organizer: Tucson Resistance Musicians
Initial meeting for the Tucson Resistance Musicians. Song leaders needed! Singers needed! Add the joyful noise of singing to our cause! We will be learning songs mostly from the Justice Choir Songbook as we attend and sing at various protests in the Tucson area.
We are looking to have a corps group of 4 – 6 song leaders who would be available to attend protests and events and offer singing in support. We’ll provide a bullhorn and the music.

Weigh in on bills from the comfort of your couch! Arizona’s Request to Speak (RTS) is an online tool that lets everyday citizens give Arizona state lawmakers our feedback on bills. It’s an easy way to get involved in state politics, stay informed on the bills that directly affect us, and make sure our elected officials honor the wishes of us, their constituents. This training will answer all your questions and get you ready to participate in the Arizona legislative process.

Organizer: Resistance Pocketbook Project
Click here for more information and to RSVP. Seating is limited. Please RSVP.
This session is a practical presentation about how to give money strategically in the current crisis of democracy. We’ll talk about the unusual and urgent nature of this moment, and how both charitable giving and political giving may need to change in response. We’ll consider what kinds of organizations are most likely to make a real difference right now, and how different giving strategies make sense for people in different financial situations. The focus is on how financial support for the resistance can be a powerful complement to—and a source of capacity behind—voting drives, court challenges, constituent lobbying, mutual aid, street protests, and other forms of action.
We’ll discuss national and local options, including formal nonprofits, political organizations and PACs, and informal grassroots efforts. Topics include how to think about the timing of your giving, one-time gifts versus monthly support, and how to evaluate organizations without needing to become an expert or spend hours doing research.
The event is appropriate for both activists and people who are less comfortable being in the streets, and no prior knowledge is required. There will be at-home material to help you think through your choices privately. You will not be asked to share any details about your personal finances, and this is not a fundraising pitch for any specific organization — it’s about helping participants decide what they want to support and how best to do it. If you’ve been feeling urgency or uncertainty about how to respond to this moment, this session is designed to help you move forward.
This is the first of several planned sessions. We’re starting with a daytime run for people who have the flexibility to attend, and we’ll offer additional sessions at other times. Because this presentation is aimed at a different audience than many organizing events, we encourage you to share it with friends who might not otherwise see it, and to bring them with you or help them register.
This event is not sponsored or supported by the Pima County Public Library or any of its branches. The Library does not endorse any views or opinions expressed or activities taking place during this event.

Revolutionary Grounds Books & Coffee
Organizer: Revolutionary Grounds
From the organizer: Revolutionary Grounds Bookstore and Coffee will be hosting an afternoon of revolutionary singing. No moment of resistance, no fight for democracy, has ever been complete without music, and we wish to celebrate and enjoy that music together in community. There will be fan-favorites, but my hope is that everyone also leaves learning at least one new song of protest.
It doesn't matter if you have any musical experience, everyone can come together to sing collectively in groups in joy, mourning, love, and fightback. All are welcome!
Please RSVP here if you can come (so I know how many songbooks to make and if we need to have an extra worker to help cover the cafe during the shift). If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Rev Grounds or drop by anytime :)
PS: if you spread around the flyer (please do!) remember to share the RSVP link.
